 Education Section

Education
Delaware public schools are focused on providing students with great skills in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Delaware has made education a top priority through the Vision 2015 program. Vision 2015 is a bold collaborative effort between education, government, business and civic leaders throughout Delaware. It sets goals, benchmarks, and incentives for teachers and schools to be accountable and excel. It stresses innovation in the classroom, and customizing lesson plans around unique student and classroom needs. Because of the state's leadership in reforming the school system, Delaware was one of two states selected in the first round of the federal Race to the Top grant for $100 million. The money will be used for hiring and training teachers, continuing challenging academic standards, building data systems to evaluate student progress, and preparing more students for higher education. Delaware schools will become a model for other schools across the country.
Families relocating to New Castle County have many school options. Families may choose to enroll children in one of six public school districts through the state of Delaware School Choice program, as well as acclaimed charter schools like Cab Calloway School for the Arts or the Charter School of Wilmington.
