Tax rates on personal income in Delaware range from 2.2% to 5.55% for incomes under $60,000. Incomes over $60,000 are taxed at 6.95%, but will be reduced to 5.95% by 2014.

New Castle County has some of the top health care and health education institutions in the country. Christiana Care Health System, headquartered in Wilmington, is one of the country’s largest health care providers, ranking 16th in the nation for hospital admissions. This not-for-profit, non-sectarian health system, has two hospitals with more than 1,100 patient beds. Christiana Care is recognized as a regional center for excellence in cardiology, cancer and women’s health services, and is home to a Level I trauma center and Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit.
The Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children offers a treatment philosophy and level of care and comfort that sets the standard for children’s health care, and was rated among the U.S. News & World Report 2010-11 listing of Best Children’s Hospitals.
St. Francis Hospital has been providing a full spectrum of general medical services in Wilmington since 1924, including the St. Francis Heart Center, 24-hour emergency services with fast-track minor emergency care, Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, da Vinci Surgical System, Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, Sleep/Neurodiagnostics Center, and more.
Delaware Transit Corp., with assistance from the U.S. Department of Transportation, is currently undertaking plans to redevelop the Newark Train Station and provide commuter rail service from Newark, Delaware to APG. The train station will be located at the University of Delaware’s new science and technology campus and mixed use development at the 272-acre former Chrysler facility.
