Boards & Commissions

Land Use Related Boards and Committees

The following public boards and committees are responsible for making recommendations and/or decisions on a variety of land use related laws and judgments. All board meetings are open to the public. Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment hears requests from property owners for variances from a variety of County laws and regulations.

Assessment Review Board

The Assessment Review Board hears appeals from any property owner who alleges that his/her property has been improperly assessed for the purposes of taxation. The Board also hears appeals from denials by the Department of Land Use of applications of property tax exemptions.

Historic Review Board

The Historic Review Board makes recommendations and delineations for historic district boundaries, maintains a survey of historic properties and reviews permits relative to historic properties.

License Inspection Review

The License Inspection Review Board hears appeals regarding the issuance, transfer, renewal, refusal, suspension, revocation or cancellation of County-issued licenses or decisions rendered through the inspections process.

Planning Board

The Planning Board is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on proposed changes to zoning, subdivision regulations, deed restrictions and the Comprehensive Development Plan.

Resource Protection Area Technical Advisory Committee (RPATAC)

The RPATAC provides technical support and submits recommendations to the Department of Land Use regarding issues impacting protected environmental resources.
