Zoning Violations
Zoning and Other Property-Related Violations
Code Enforcement investigates complaints regarding property that relate to the use or zoning of the property, the building integrity and other concerns. Violations of the Zoning and Building Code are subject to a somewhat different process from common property maintenance code violations.
Violation Process
Those in violation receive a violation notice that directs them to correct the problem by a certain date. Failure to correct results in the scheduling of a Show Cause Hearing. The property owner appears before the hearing officer whose objective is to arrive at a schedule for compliance. There is a $200 fee for those who are not in compliance by the time of the Show Cause hearing and continued violation of the law can result in court fines.
