Items Due During Emergency Closings

Please be advised that when the libraries are closed due to inclement weather, items due during that time will NOT be assessed late fees. Patrons are not expected to return their materials during such closures as we cannot guarantee the approaches to the book drops will be cleared.

Libraries Closed for Presidents' Birthdays

Please note that the New Castle County Libraries will be CLOSED on Monday, February 6 for Lincoln's Birthday and Monday, February 20 for Washington's Birthday. Please renew your items early to avoid confusion.

Lost Card Fee

As of February 1, 2012, all public libraries in the state of Delaware will charge patrons $2.00 for a lost card.

News and Upcoming Events

Family Programs

Rhythm, Rhyme, and Storytime:  Music, stories, songs, and more for ages 3 and up.  Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., through February 28. 
 
Toddler Tales:  Stories and action rhymes for toddlers (18-36 months).  Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m.  Registration required. 
 
Book Babies:  Mother Goose rhymes, songs, and playtime for infants and toddlers to age 18 months.  Thursdays at 10:15 a.m., through February 24.  No sessions on 11/24 and 12/29. 
 
Paws for Reading:  Read for 15 minutes to our furry friends, provided by Paws for People.  First and third Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m. (12/7, 12/21, 2/1, 2/15).  No sessions in January.  Registration required.
 
Family Game Days:  Board games, card games, and puzzles for the whole family.  Last Saturday of each month (11/26, 12/27--games all week, 1/28, 2/25), 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 
 
Family Music Party:  Come move and groove with us to some very silly songs.  All ages.  Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., 1/14, 2/11.  Registration required.
 
Snuggle-Up Storytimes:  Wear your pj's and snuggle up for some great bedtime stories and songs.  All ages.  1/11 and 2/8 at 6:30 p.m.

Invest in Your Future: Read!:  Reading club.  Reading incentives, money games, and more.  All ages up to 18.  February 1-29.  Registration required.
 
Hearts and Flowers:  Stories, songs, and Valentine's Day activities.  Ages 3 and up.  Tuesday, 2/7, at 4 p.m.
 
George Washington Did What?  Presidential stories, songs, and funny trivia.  Ages 4 and up.  Thursday, 2/9, at 4 p.m.
 
Leaping Lizards, Oh My!  Celebrate Leap Year with stories, songs, and more.  Ages 3 and up.  Wednesday, 2/29, at 4 p.m.

Rest assured, tax forms are coming, and assistance is being offered by volunteer organizations all over the County.
