MISSION

The New Castle County Office of Redevelopment, in cooperation with the Delaware Economic Development Office and the New Castle County Economic Development Council, works to attract new businesses and retain existing ones through marketing and outreach. The Office assists local and national companies with government regulations and the permitting process.

NEW CASTLE COUNTY REDEVELOPMENT INCENTIVES

New Castle County wants redevelopment of property to be the first choice of land use developers. With the enactment of a series of development ordinances that waive impact fees for redevelopment projects and other incentives that compress the land use approval process, New Castle County hopes to attract more investment in traditional neighborhood development.

Property redevelopment is a key element in New Castle County's strategy to preserve open space, minimize the development of green areas and control sprawl. The benefits to both the property owner and to the community when a previously run-down and vacant property is redeveloped and reused are innumerable - renewal of downtown areas, full use of in-place infrastructure such as roads, sewers, schools and libraries, and business investment and job creation.
