Sewers - New Castle County

Serving New Castle County's 118,000 sewer customers is no easy task! County residents generate 50+ million gallons of wastewater per day.

To service that need, the County maintains over 150 pumping stations, 43,000 manholes, and more than 1,700 miles of sanitary sewer pipe. If all that pipe was layed end to end, it would form a line that stretched from here to Denver, Colorado!

Special Services employees are on call 24 hours a day, and their duties include everything from maintaining pumping stations and cleaning existing sewer lines, to design and construction of new lines.
